Giveaway & Shop Announcement

Okay I must get this out of my system: Yowza!

500 posts and Kristen and I are still addicted to finding and sharing all the prettyness we can. And in honor of that madness, anyone who comments on this post will be entered into a drawing to win a goodie box. What sort of goodies? A nice variety of items from our sponsors and handmade items by Kristen and I. So don't be surprised to find pretty jewelry things and felt fripperies and notecards, and other wondrous goodies. We'll allow comments on this up until July 11th, and then we'll randomly pull a name.

All sorts of comments are encouraged. Tell us what kind of posts you like the best. Leave us a line of poetry. Describe the mood of your favorite color or what dreams dream about. Its completely up to you and will not at all affect your chances of winning.
***

Now for the shop announcement. Its not a new shop, per se, just an extra prettified one. Kristen and I are vintage junkies and we've had a vintage shop on etsy called Miriam and Eleanor for a while. (Named after our super fabulous grandmothers no less). Well, we finally found a very wonderful, slinkster cool model to help elevate our shop to a new level. (And by found, I really mean Kristen finally turned around and asked her stylish co-worker if she'd be up for it).

Take a look at how we've improved:

And there's so many more pretty shots yet to be posted. Its exciting to really adore your own shop. And in honor of all our happy excitement, we're offering a sale through July 11th as well. For 15% any Miriam and Eleanor item, just enter "500" in the comments section and wait for a revised invoice. Cause we're all about spreading the yowsa's.
And thanks to all you who share our fascination with all things beautiful. Your comments and your blogs and your shops are a constant source of inspiration.

Recently I had a dream about making and wearing a yellow silk gown, cinching it at the waist with a belt.

Investigations into the color yellow suggest a connection with the third chakra (located in the solar plexus), which is the center for self-confidence and the lower center for intuition (our gut feelings/how we move about in the world). This is also where we store the emotions of fear and anger...as a woman who has been victimized, I am recognizing a need to release these feelings.

Even more close to home, for me, is that yellow is my grandmother's favorite color, and I fondly remember the yellow curtains in her dining room. Her home was the only place I was safe as a child. I haven't spoken with her in many years, perhaps it is time to reconnect.

Thanks for the site, it is beautiful.

the model photos are really lovely! you're inspiring me to do more for my own etsy vintage shop.

hmm, what can i say about the mood of my favourite colour...
aqua: the sensation of diving into a swimming pool (wearing a 50's style bathing cap adorned with plastic flowers) and looking up at the sunny sky through the filter of shimmering water.

I love all the housewares, furniture, purses and jewelry that you guys find. I get a little disappointed when the find of the day is a weird doll. Your shop is looking great and I love the new model too.

A mysterious goodie box??!? How tempting! Can I sway you at all with the fact that my birthday falls mid-contest? ;)

Sadly, I have nothing of interest to add tonight, comment-wise. Except that your site is lovely!

Congrats on post #500! Just don't slack off now, keep the loveliness acoming. Here's to 500 more.

oh, and for the heck of it:
"there are two things every Sicilian knows: when pasta sticks to the wall it's done, and when a body sticks to the ground it's dead" - Sophia, Golden Girls
it's not quite poetry, but it's poetic
